Congratulations to Veronica Delgado and Jocelyn Weiner for being accepted into the prestigious high school summer program at the Wilkes-Honors Institute.

Our Model United Nations team took honors at the South Florida Model United Nations simulation in April. Matt Abplanalp, Tor Pasteur, Bob Bergey and Jocelyn Weiner represented Iran. Veronica Delgado represented the country of Croatia. This year the team also participated in the Yale Model United Nations. Plans are underway to participate in 3 model United Nation simulations for next year.

Carly Levy did an outstanding performance in the Coral Springs rendition of Mean Girls.

Our traveling theatre troupe wrote an original play depicting the birth of Broward County for the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society in March. They did such a great job that the Israel 60 celebration at Nova SouthEastern University asked our group to perform an original production for them.

Gianfranco Guerra has been busy performing in piano concerts in Miami. We are fortunate to hear him during his practice sessions every afternoon.

Kudos to Evan Sarnow, Veronica Delgado and Bob Bergey for achieving Honors on the National Latin exam.

We are soooo proud of our teens. Look what they are doing.

Congratulations to Brielle Rassler and Jocelyn Weiner for qualifying for the Florida State Thespian Festival in Tampa this April.
What an accomplishment for 2 talented underclassmen.

Congratulations to Kyeongkwan 'Yoshi' Nam for recently winning the 6 th Annual Ars Flors Young Artists Concerto Competition. Yoshi played Mendelssohn's Concerto E Minor, Op. 64 on his violin. Can't wait to hear him perform a solo with this highly selective orchestra in January.

Kudos to Jocelyn Weiner for being selected as stage manager for the Fort Lauderdale Children's Theatre upcoming performance of Beauty and the Beast. What an undertaking to coordinate 70 individuals in a production.

Playing piano is a passion of Gianfranco. We look forward to his upcoming piano recital at the Miami Lakes Methodist church. I am sure his playing will be inspirational.

Congratulations to Alexandra Robau (age 13) of Davie, Florida for winning the Broward County Martin Luther King art contest!

What to do next summer:

Windsor Mountain International has extraordinary traveling theatre programs. From first hand experience this is one of the best kept secrets. Travel to New England, California, Brazil or Europe for starters. Check out their website www.windsormountain.com for more information.

Book Reviews:

Send us a review of your favorite book and we will post it on this site.

Harry Potter and the Half Blooded Prince

This is the best book J.K. Rowling has written. The story had a good plot, interesting characters and was written well. Rowling had me wanting to read forever. I have to say though, the whole snape, dcaco, and Dumbledore thing was very predictable. Honestly, I though Harry was going to be as pitiful in this book as he was portrayed in the fifth book When I read the book I was so happy. Overall, I give it a thumbs up!
