The Conservatory Prep Senior High's vision is to build a college bound learning community with a passion for the arts. Our aim is to guide students on their own journey of discovery to find their inner voice through artistic expression. By using the stage as our classroom, we encourage students and teachers to think creatively and explore diverse interests, with the goal of achieving high academic and artistic standards. Our students are unique individuals who tend to view the world through abstract connections and respond with insight and imagination. Conservatory Prep will seek out, acknowledge and build upon each student's natural curiosity and learning style preference. We seek to construct knowledge through exploration, experiment and discovery and to establish strong connections between the arts and academics.
Starting in September 2008 all of our core classes will be inter-disciplinary with enrichment courses to provide our students a well-rounded meaningful educational experience. Instead of route memorization, students will be exposed to problem-based experiential learning through the arts. English will be taught on the stage, world history through music and art and anatomy taught with dance. We view the arts as an important component to one’s education and well being complementing any discipline our students choose to pursue. Writing skills are honed, research techniques are cultivated and expression of thought its enhanced through our unique curriculum. The David Posnack Jewish Community Center facility was chosen to host the school because of its array of amenities. The ‘J' will provide the school with two theaters, 2 music rooms, an art studio with a kiln, teen lounge, kitchen, dance studios, 3 swimming pools and large classrooms. Taking advantage of these amenities, the curriculum is filled with formal instruction in dance, music, drama, Latin, art, swimming and leadership. The school is fortunate to have faculty from Harvard, Columbia, Tulane, Brandeis, Vassar and Swarthmore guiding the students in these areas to fulfill their potential.
Classes at Conservatory Prep are taught on high school level, honors and Advanced Topics. Advanced Topics courses are taught on a college-level, similar to Advanced Placement. Unlike the AP courses, which are taught for the test, Advanced Topics simulates an actual college experience incorporating small seminar classes with discussion, independent research and investigation into primary sources.

Outside experiences are an important part of the curriculum. Educational trips have included visits to major universities, Sedona, Mexico, the Broward Center for the Performing Arts and art galleries. Being a well-rounded liberal arts school, the importance of developing leadership skills is taken very seriously. For the 2008 – 2009 school year, the students will be traveling to the Spoleto Festival in Charleston, South Carolina in May. Clubs meet either during lunch or after school. For the upcoming school year we will offer: Thespians, Newspaper, Fairchild Gardens Challenge, National Honors Society, music performance, traveling theatre troupe, community service performing opportunities, student leadership council and Model United Nations.
